How to Choose the Right Chapati Making Machine for Your Kitchen

If you're running a hotel kitchen, industrial canteen, hospital mess or cloud kitchen, the biggest mistake we see buyers make is choosing a chapati machine based on price alone. The right machine depends on four practical factors: how many rotis you need per hour, how much floor space you have, what power supply is available, and how much manual labour you want to remove from the process.
1. Start with your peak-hour roti volume
Don't size your machine for an average day — size it for your busiest hour. A hostel mess serving 500 students in a 90-minute lunch window has very different needs from a boutique hotel serving 80 covers.
- Under 600 rotis/hour: a compact rotary index machine is usually enough
- 600–800 rotis/hour: a mid-range triple-conveyor model
- 2000+ rotis/hour: a high-output triple-conveyor line built for continuous multi-hour runs
2. Measure your available floor space
Rotary index machines have a much smaller footprint than triple-conveyor lines, which need a straight run of counter space for the dough-in, pressing and baking stages. Measure your kitchen before you shortlist models — a machine that doesn't physically fit is not a bargain no matter the price.
3. Confirm your power supply
Compact and entry-level machines often run on single-phase power, while high-capacity triple-conveyor units typically need a three-phase connection. Check this with your electrician before ordering, especially if you're retrofitting an existing kitchen rather than building new.
4. Decide how much of the process you want to automate
You don't have to automate everything at once. Many kitchens start with a dough kneader machine and a chapati pressing machine to remove the two most labour-intensive manual steps, then add a full automatic line later as volume grows.

Specifications on paper only tell part of the story — the right fit also depends on your dough consistency, staff shift patterns and existing kitchen layout. Our team has installed machines across hotels, steel plant canteens, hospitals and educational institutions since 2014, and can help you match a model to your actual kitchen rather than a generic capacity chart.
